It was a kind of joke when in 1993 Giuliano Palma sang a one live cover song with a band called Fratelli di Soledad, but that was the seminal moment of a new supercoverband called Bluebeaters, formed by members of other different bands: Casino Royale, Africa Unite and after New York Ska Jazz Ensemble just to give a clue. From the beginning they dedicate themselves to the sixties Jamaican music: the “blue beat”. That was just for fun, but in the coming years the fun and the joke became a real live band playing endless tours, with thousands of fans all over the country waiting for the next gig. The Bluebeaters have a honest passion and a natural attitude which gives them the gift to transform any musicm makining it sounding original ska rocksteady and soul. They even arranged a ska version of Cher's “Do You Believe In Love” that was such a compelling track that made many people thing was theirs original song.
The fans started to ask for tapes and recorded music, the moment to put on a record their covers had arrived with the release of “The Album” in 1999. The songs contained in this first record where “Wonderful Life” -Black; “Believe”-Cher; “I Don't Know Why I Love You (But I Do)-Clarence “Frogman” Henry; “Stop Making Love”-Four Tops; “World's Fair”-Skatalites; “Coming From The Cold”-Bob Marley; an English version of “Grande Grande Grande”-Mina; old Jamaican 60ies like “How Many Times”, “I Don't Want To See You Cry”, “There's A Reward” or “Tell Me Now”and seventy reggae hit like “Desperate Lover” and “Let Him Try”. They decided to sell the record just through their website and the rewarding selling of twelve thousands copies was a milestone for a lasting carrier that brings them to us today. The latest recorded work has the emblematic title of “Boogaloo” which is a genre of Latin music very popular at the end of the sixties in the States. It was born in New York amongst Cuban and Portorican youngsters fusing together R&B, rock'n'roll, soul, mambo and son montuno. The incredible result are awesome covers from Gene Simmons (The Kiss) to Bee Gees, with few pearls of Beatles B-side “I'll Get You” and of course Italian classics like “Tutta Mia La Città”-Equipe '84.
Bluebeaters in few words are simply stage animals, these guys seriously rock(steady), so put your dancing shoes on and your romantic smiling face, only for lovers!
